Trondheim is a small city in the northern part of Norway that's rich in cultural history, but it's becoming a technology mecca with companies like Google and Yahoo having a presence in the area as well as the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.

DORA 1 In Trondheim

Aside from the Nidaros Cathedral, the Torg, and most recently the technology companies in the area, Trondheim is also home to DORA 1. DORA 1 is a former German submarine base and bunker that was constructed during World War 2. This was going to be the largest Nazi naval base in Northern Europe, but it was never finished. Today the DORA 1 bunker is used for storing archives and a few businesses operate out of this building (including a bowling alley). The naval pens for the submarines are still there and now used by civilian boaters.
