Vinmonopolets In Trondheim
The Norwegian government has an (unfortunate) monopoly over the alcohol sales in Norway. Any beverage with an alcohol content greater than ten proof can only be purchased at these state-run stores called Vinmonopolet, which literally means "monopoly". Beer and wine coolers (or "alcopops") can however be purchased from traditional stores. The Norwegian government has also placed high taxes on alcohol sales. The Vinmonopolets do, however, have a wide variety of beer and wine. More information can be found on the
Vinmonopolet website.
